5 Beauty Tips From My Mom That Work

My amazing Mom
I would like to introduce you to this beautiful woman in the picture - my mom. She is seventy-six years old, healthy and radiant.

Look at her skin! Mom has beautiful skin. And I promise you, she has never had anything done to it - no lift, no surgery, no filler, no needles. In fact, although mom started drinking Taut  Premium Collagen since I started the business, she has received even more compliments. The truth is, she has taken really good care of herself her whole life.

 What are her secrets? Some of them, you probably have heard from your own mom, but stick with me:
TIP #1: Stay Out of the Sun
Bu Yao Shai Tai Yang. "Minimize sun exposure." It is common in Asia for women to carry an umbrella to shield themselves from the sun. They don't necessarily wear sunblock, but they wear long sleeves and pants to protect their skin. This is especially true of women of my mother's generation. I used to be a little embarrassed and sometimes irritated with her "fear" of sun. But I get it now: first do no harm!

TIP #2: Use good products
Mom uses good products. She has dry skin and is very diligent with applying cream. Now, this is her special trick: she doesn't just slather on the products in a quick one-two like most women do, she takes her time to pat them in. Right around her jaw line and cheek area, she gives herself gentle slaps in an upward motion. "This is very important to keep your skin elastic!"
TIP #3: Don't forget your neck!
I should add that mom places great emphasis on her neck area. Mom says that is the one part of the skin that younger women neglect and that is the place that will give a woman's age away. What does she do? She often gives it a pat and lift - to exercise the neck muscle to keep them toned.
TIP #4: Drink less coffee! Drink water !
This is self explanatory, perhaps your mom nags you on this point too. But she has a Chinese spin on this water secret: drink warm or room temperature water, never iced water. The Chinese believe iced water would chill the body and introduce ill humor into our body. There is no scientific evidence for it, but for a long time there was no scientific evidence that acupuncture works. They have evidence for it now.

TIP #5: Eat till you are just 80% full
This has been passed down from my grandmother to my mom. My grandmother believes in a fixed routine. 6 - 12 - 6 . Everyday without change, she would have her breakfast at 6am, her lunch at 12pm and dinner at 6pm. No matter how good the food is or how good they taste, she would always eat just enough but never too full. Somehow this has been passed down to my mom too.  She swears by it. They both have their figure to show for it.

Beauty is not just skin deep. I think that part of her beauty comes from the depth of kindness within her....

Protecting your skin from the sun is important, no matter what time of year it is, but it’s especially vital in the summertime. While you might want to bare your skin in the summer to achieve a beautiful, sun-kissed complexion, UVA and UVB radiation from the sun can wreak havoc on your skin and cause premature aging if you aren’t careful.

UVA rays, which account for 90 to 95 percent of the UV radiation that reaches the earth, penetrate deep layers of the skin and cause tanning. UVB radiation accounts for only 5 to 10 percent of solar radiation, but it damages the epidermis, or surface layer of the skin, causing sunburn.

  UVA rays cause the collagen in your skin to break down at a higher rate than normal aging . They do this by penetrating the dermis, or middle layer of the skin, and lead to the abnormal buildup of elastin. This elastin accumulates and results in the production of enzymes that break down collagen.

The more sun exposure you get, the worse the damage becomes. UV radiation also creates free radicals, which are unstable oxygen molecules that increase the number of enzymes that break down collagen. An excessive amount of free radicals in your body can also weaken your vascular system, cause poor circulation, and lead to deteriorated eye health.
